The Ancient Judean Date, “Methuselah”, and six additional date palms were germinated from 2000 year old seeds discovered during archaeological excavations at Masada and caves in the Judean Desert.

This unique scientific project was initiated in 2005 by Dr. Sarah Sallon, Director of the Louis L. Borick Natural Medicine Research Center at Hadassah Hospital, Jerusalem in cooperation with Dr. Elaine Solowey, founder of the Center for Sustainable Agriculture at the Arava Institute, Kibbutz Ketura.
The amazing story of these trees has been published worldwide in prestigious scientific journals including “Science” and the international media.
