The planting of 7 date trees from the Ancient Kingdom of Judah has been completed!
In October 2022, we planted the trees “Boaz” and “Uriel” in Kibbutz Ketura. This completed the group of 7 rare trees, which were carefully sprouted from 2000-year-old seeds.
The first tree in the series, which received international publicity and even holds a Guinness world record, is “Methuselah”. Germinated in 2005, this is the oldest seed in the world germinated under natural conditions!
These ancient date palm seeds were found in Masada and in the caves of the Judean desert and have been carbon dated to be about 2000 years old. These are organic remains from the time of the Ancient Temple! The seeds sprouted and grew and have thus brought back to life the ancient variety, the “Judean Date”, which became extinct hundreds of years ago.
